Tests for Hemorrhoids

With any type of hemorrhoids, you will need to visit a doctor in order to get the problem examined.  It is easy for the hemorrhoids to become a more severe problem without proper treatment.  If you are having problems with hemorrhoids, make sure you get them diagnosed. The first type of test that is commonly used for hemorrhoids is an anoscope.  With this specific test, the doctor will use an anoscope to make sure that the problem is hemorrhoids.  An anoscope is a short hollow tube that is inserted into the anal canal.  The second test used for hemorrhoids is a proctoscopy.  A hollow tube will be inserted into the colon.  It will allow the physician to determine if the bleeding is from hemorrhoids or is related to other digestive problems. 

The third type of test is a sigmoidoscopy.  A sigmoidoscopy will also be more flexible and allow the doctor to move further into the rectum area.  The main reason why a doctor would use a sigmoidoscope is to bend around the colon and see the edges that may have the hemorrhoids attached to them. 

Doctors may also suggest for you to empty your colon with an enema, or sometimes both, depending on your needs.  If you are having problems with hemorrhoids, it is important to make sure that a doctor examines you.  With any of these types of tests, it will make the process easier for you and the doctor. Your doctor can give you an accurate diagnosis and help you reduce the pain associated with this problem. Your doctor can recommend the proper treatment whether he or she suggests a non-invasive approach or a surgical procedure.
